Free Access to Age-Appropriate Equipment
Thanks to generous community support, participants at First Tee – Greater Charleston have the opportunity to be fitted with golf clubs at no cost.
We believe young people should grow out of their clubs and never into them. A club that is too long or heavy can have a lasting negative impact on a child’s enjoyment and mastery of the game. Properly fitted clubs instill confidence. Caring for a set also helps kids to develop responsibility and respect for the resources that make on-course play possible.
Kids Who Have Clubs Can Trade-In for New Clubs as They Grow
A participant at any level of On-Course Golf & Life Skills who owns a set of youth clubs can turn his/her existing set (clubs and bag) in to receive a properly fitted set. So long as a child continues with First Tee programming (participating in at least one season each year), he/she may continue to trade in for new equipment as he/she grows.
Kids Who Don’t Have Clubs Can Borrow Everything They Need
A participant who does not own a set of clubs, will borrow everything they need in class for their first 3 seasons of programming. Participants who continue programming for 2+ years (4 or more seasons) are eligible for a set of clubs that they can take home and use as long as they continue with First Tee. Sets can be traded in as a child grows.

FAQ
Do we need to buy clubs to participate in First Tee programs?
No, we provide everything a child needs in class for their first 3 season. A child who stays with the program for 4 or more seasons will receive a set that they he/she can take home and use outside of class.
Do we have to return clubs when our child leaves First Tee?
If your child traded his/her own clubs in for a new set of properly fitted clubs you will not need to return the set to First Tee. If your child did not trade in a set of his/her own clubs and simply received free clubs as part of On-Course Program advancement, he/she will need to return the set upon leaving the program.
How do we get clubs?
