Pathfinder Immersion Program Spring Recap

June 4, 2026 | Program Update

Our Pathfinders are gearing up for an exciting summer! Their six-week summer camp tees off June 15, and we can’t wait to have everyone (including 12 new participants) under one roof at Charleston Day School.

And if spring offers any indication of what’s ahead, our Pathfinders are in for an action-packed treat. Check out some of the fabulous activities Coach Johnson and Coach Jensen were able to coordinate on Saturdays, and just imagine all that they can pack into summer when the kids are meeting five days a week.

We kicked off the spring season with memorable clinics at Cassique and River Course courtesy of the Kiawah Island Club pros. Our HV3 Mentors joined in to ensure all Pathfinders received personalized, one-on-one attention. Our Lady Pathfinders enjoyed an additional clinic with the Citadel Ladies Golf Team at Patriots Point Golf Links to hone their driving, putting, judgment, and rebound skills.

In February, we took a brief break from the golf course to attend the Golf Galaxy grand opening in Mt. Pleasant. The kids learned how to regrip a club, tried out some new gear, and accepted a generous $15,000 grant to keep our programs going and growing. They also took home fun Golf Galaxy swag bags. We rounded out the month with leisure activities and a trip to the movies.

In March, our Pathfinders visited Charleston Fun Park for our annual Mini Mentor Cup event, and Queens On the Greens, a networking group dedicated to empowering women of color to learn and play golf, hosted our Lady Pathfinders for golf and mentorship at Coosaw Creek. This was a first visit to Coosaw for many of our girls.

Later in the month, we visited MUSC for an educational horticulture therapy session with MUSC’s Pocket Urban Farm Team. The kids learned all about what was growing on MUSC’s campus and even had a chance to harvest some carrots.

March ended with a trip to the Bulls Bay Rodeo, where we enjoyed roping, racing, dirt bikes, and (every teenager’s favorite) food trucks.

Many thanks to Charleston Southern University for opening their doors to us in April. CSU’s Center for Personal Financial Management hosted an interactive finance lesson and some fun money bingo games. A few weeks later, we returned for a resume building workshop with Dr. Shanelle Fields.

After flexing our life skills, we got back to golf basics and spent some quality time putting, chipping, and driving with our HV3 Mentors at Legend Oaks.

We closed out the season with an Urban Air adventure, skating at Carolina Ice Palace, an appearance at the Port City Golf Club Tournament, and a Charleston Battery soccer game.

Many thanks the enrichment partners and donors who make such robust programming possible!
