October 5, 2026 | Program Update
Summer planning is underway, and we are seeking summer 2027 interns who want to help kids and teens develop a growth mindset through the game of golf! Resumes will be accepted on a rolling basis through the end of this year, and initial interviews will take place in January.
Our summer internships are paid positions, and furnished housing is provided on the College of Charleston campus for students who do not live locally.
Multiple openings are available, and we offer two internship options–Community Outreach Coordinator/Coach and Pathfinder Immersion Program Coach. Community Outreach Interns support a variety of golf-based character development programs at local golf courses and community centers. Pathfinder Interns provide dedicated support to middle and high school students engaged in a six-week golf and STEM summer camp.
Coach Sawyer challenges one of our Pathfinder Immersion Program participants to a game of chess, and Coach Megan hosts a Mini Camp.
Due to summer housing requirements, candidates must be 18 years of age. Ideal candidates will have completed at least one year of post-secondary education, can work independently, have excellent communication skills, and are passionate about helping young people pursue their personal best. Golf knowledge is highly considered but not a requirement for all openings.
In addition to compensation, our interns leave each summer with amazing memories and connections. But you don’t have to take our word for it. Just ask our friend Larry. As a three-time Pathfinder Immersion Program Intern, Coach LJ has had an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with a diverse group of young people and fellow coaches…
“First Tee isn’t just a job or an internship to me; it’s a family and a foundation to help change our society. Coach Johnson is like a mentor to me, and seeing what he does inspires me to do the same.”
After three summers with our Pathfinders, Coach Larry says that First Tee is more than just a job; it’s family.
Coach LJ is certainly a beloved member of the First Tee Family, and if you know of someone who, like Coach LJ, is excited about community impact, we would love to add them to our family too!
