Long-time On-Course Program participant and Teen Advisory Council member Sarah Anne was one of 40 incredible young women to attend the LPGA Leadership Academy in Miami last month. The two-day camp, sponsored by the LPGA Foundation, is designed to keep teen girls engaged in golf and reinforces key life-lessons. Camp participants learn about how to approach decisions, overcome set backs, take calculated risks, and develop goal-setting skills by engaging in golf activities, panel discussions, and journaling.

From Sarah Anne
Attending the LPGA Academy in Miami, Florida was an incredible experience. I enjoyed meeting girls my age from all over the country who shared my passion for the game of golf. I felt honored to be one of 40 girls accepted to attend this event.
During the academy, I had the opportunity to enhance my leadership skills, improve my mindset on the course, improve my confidence, and set goals on and off the golf course. I connected with inspiring golf coaches, mentors, and fellow participants. I look forward to “being in the habit of achieving my goals”, and “making my move” on the golf course.
The experience taught me skills I will use on and off the golf course. I learned the importance of how you talk to yourself, the qualities of a good leader, how to be more confident and BLAB: Body, Language, Appreciation, Breathe. I learned that golf is about how you react to both good and bad shots. I also realize how much you need to enjoy the process, because if you don’t celebrate yourself along the way you’ll be over it by the time you reach your goal.
I am grateful to the LPGA, Girls Golf, and all the coaches and panelists who took time to make an impact in the lives of me and my fellow girl golfers. It was a joy to spend two days with them. The Academy helped me grow as a golfer, a leader, and a person. I am excited to apply what I learned in my community and in my future goals.

Special thanks to Sarah Anne for sharing this amazing experience with us!
